WELCOME TO MARE

Hello, and welcome to (Having A) MARE Magazine!

My name is Alexandra, and I'm the founder of this very weird but wonderful publication.

I never thought in a million years I would have founded an online webzine amidst all this madness.

At the start and during the middle of lockdown so many of my musical, artistic and friends of the general 'creative' variety were constantly talking about having a 'lockdown achievement.' I've seen some utterly incredible work created in that time and I thought I ought to help establish a platform to showcase such criminally underrated talent. Under pressure and feeling a little insecure and out of sorts I thought personally, I should have probably written a novel, an anthology of poems or finally brought my screenplay to life. But instead I imagined a sort of Frankenstein amalgam of all three - which turned out to tick all of the above boxes, MARE Magazine.

Specialising in music, culture and arts with everything in-between, MARE is a new age culture and arts platform that strives to promote, showcase and critique the best underground creatives from all over the world with a satirical twist. MARE was founded for one purpose and one purpose only, as an answer to the crisis currently being experienced by disenfranchised artists and musicians in the COVID era of human history. As a woman, music specialist, novice historian and writer - it became clear that the time for giving a platform to so many disenchanted, disillusioned but fiercely intelligent young men and women, is now.

We are a proudly multicultural zine written by the people, for the people. Currently based in London we welcome every creed, colour, religious background and sexual orientation.

I personally am so happy to finally be able to both enjoy doing what I love while giving something back.
